PJ: 12/16/19339: George Anson Johnston, proprietor of the Hotel Lenhart at Bemus Point for the past 27 years, died at 11:30 oclock last night at his home in Bemus Point. He was 72 years old. He had been ill for the past two years. Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife, Mrs. Charlotte Lenhart Johnston, a daughter, Mrs. Ivor R. Pardee of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., two sons, John Lenhart Johnston of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and George Anson Johnston, Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa., and a brother, Chester Frank Johnston of Pittsburgh, Pa. Mr. Johnston was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jamestown and of the Masons. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of George and Mary Josephine Johnston. While he was still young, his family moved to Otley, Iowa, where he attended school. Coming East in his young manhood, he was a salesman for Henry Wilholm, a jobber in glue and kindred supplies in Pittsburgh. He was later employed by Howard Delaney of Philadelphia, Pa, a jobber in similar commodities. In 1912 Mr. Johnston came to Bemus Point, where he married Charlotte Lenhart and since then he had been proprietor of the Hotel Lenhart.
