PALM BEACH, Fla. - Jane B. Johnston, 80, also of No. 2 Lenhart
Ave., died at 8:45 a.m. Monday (April 5, 1999) in her winter home.
She was born August 10, 1918, in Royal Oak, Michigan, the daughter
of Ernest LeRoy and Grace Gene Bort Brandt.
A 1936 graduate of Royal Oak High School she attended Miami University
in Oxford, Ohio. She was active in the operations of the family-owned
Hotel Lenhart in Bemus Point and while residing in Chautauqua
Institution was active in The College Club and The Women's Club.
She was a life member and past president of the Bemus Point Parent
Teachers Association and was an organizer of the Bemus Point Athletic
Boosters Association. She was a member of the Bemus Point Study
Club and former Bemus Point Central School System board member.
Surviving are her husband, John Lenhart Johnston, with whom she
celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary on May 7, 1998; a son,
John Lenhart Johnston Jr. of Valencia, Pa.; a daughter, Barbara
Jane "Bebe" Stanbury of Bath, N.Y.; and two granddaughters:
Kelly and Leslie Altemus of Valencia, Pa.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Brandt.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home.
The Rev. Daniel G. McBride, pastor of the Bemus Point United Methodist
Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 p.m.
Saturday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Bemus Point Fire Department.
